The Gift of Easter

No, not yet another interpretation of two chocolate bunnies. Cute the first 17 times you see it. Now irritating. By next week it will be considered a viable candidate for the Democratic party nomination.

Speaking of Democrat candidates what has been going on at Trinity United Church of Christ now that Jeremiah Wright has been forcibly retired?

Why, it looks like those merry folks have just turned over an entirely new leaf! They aren't being divisive ANY MORE!

The whole hoopla was all the work of ONE BAD APPLE, crazy old "Uncle" Jeremiah.

Or was it.....

"The new pastor of Barack Obama’s church delivered a defiant defense of its retiring reverend Sunday, comparing media coverage of Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. to a modern-day lynching that resembles Jesus’ death at the hands of the Romans."

Yeah. Jesus didn't have to die or anything. Just go into retirement. Oh and instead of crucifixion he was "lynched".

Why must these jerks not admit to the totally obvious? Wright got a small portion of what happened to Don Imus even though one of them is clearly an entertainer and the other a veteran religious leader.

“The lynching was national news. The RNN, the Roman News Network, was reporting it and NPR, National Publican Radio had it on the radio. The Jerusalem Post and the Palestine Times all wanted exclusives, they searched out the young ministers, showed up unannounced at their houses, tried to talk with their families, called up their friends, wanted to get a quote on how do you feel about the lynching?” he continued.

ROMAN News Network? Looks like someone is carrying their analogy a bit too far.

Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie, the first female bishop in the AME Church, also delivered a sermon, in which she talked about visionaries like King and Gandhi and “Jeremiah” (it was unclear whether she meant Wright), and argued that their words weren’t about “anger,” but about “a passion that demands confrontation.”

Unclear? Was she supposed to be referring to the prophet from Judaism that she and her associates call a "gutter religion"?

“Dr. Wright represents the best among us … An attack on this man of God is an attack on all those of the cloth who believe in the social Gospel of liberation. And I will not stand for it,” he (Rev. Samuel B. McKinney of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Seattle) wrote.

So here we have more folks who believe that on 9/11/01 that 3000 people died as a result of "chickens coming home to roost"?

Moss issued several pleas to congregants to donate to what he called the “Resurrection Fund,” stressing that during this time of battle, money is needed to defend the church. He offered no additional specifics about the fund, telling churchgoers he didn’t want to get into it because Trinity is streaming the service live on the Web and the services are available for purchase on DVD.

In other words, let's not get caught doing something even more embarrassing. Now that we have learned that Whitey can watch YouTube.

A moment of pride

Tonight I saw a beautiful thing. I saw the qualification target of a co-worker who didn't own a gun, still doesn't but wants to own one soon and has taken and passed her CHL course.

I've turned a non-gunny into a CHLer.

I can not claim a direct hand in teaching her to shoot, that was left to a distinguished member of the TSRA who is truly qualified. My own journey to become one of the "permitted" to carry was the seed that is now bearing fruit.

Think of the politics this will influence. Just one person, but one person on OUR side, not theirs.

Think of the effect on crime. Men who decide that they should move to one of the gun-hater states to do their crimes.

Give a person a fish they can eat for a day. Teach them to operate a gun and they won't have to kneel to any king.

An empty belly is easy to cure. A free citizen is not as easily created but I played a part in making one.

I'm very happy.

Which Handgun Are You?

Hat tip to Texas Gun Nut for this one.

I am a: Glock Model 22 in 40 cal
Firearms Training
What kind of handgun are YOU?

How prescient of them. That's what was on my hip as I took their test.

Now you know why I have a problem finding a BAG day gun. I probably own what I would want.

The Para Ord Slim Hawg is whispering but it's a short barreled .45. They don't spit out at the proper velocity for a lot of ammo to properly expand.

I would also have to add in some new moves to my presentation practice to deactivate the safety on the draw.

I've also fired one of the short .45s and was not overly enthused about my performance. Like a snubby .38 they require devotion to the basics to really make them effective past bad breath distances. That's one reason why it's on offer at the pawn shop, I'll wager.

I'm leaning more towards a Commander sized .45 if I pick one up. Or a G 30 SF. Nothing new to learn there. But why? I have a G 27. More concealable and those bullets scoot faster out of a Polygonal barrel. I could buy it a G 23 barrel and really make them scoot.

Or keep finding ways to stick this G 22 into concealment.

Oh well. I'm in negotiations to swap a couple of lesser guns for an AK variation. A BAG day without actually spending cash may be in order.

BAG day approacheth

BAG day is little over 30 days away and I don't even know what I want.

Yes, a handgun is great. Ruger SR9? It's a 9 mm. Ruger LCP? I'm already packing a Glock 27, why would I downgrade?

Glock 30 SF? Again, it's no smaller than the Glock 27 I already pack on my work days. And it's not much smaller than the PT 145 I own. If I want a short barreled .45 I have one.

Rifle? Yes, I want a .308 (AKA 7.62 x 51 mm) rifle. I've been thinking of an Ishapore Enfield and that is still in the running. I've seen some sweet other rifles, too but outside of my current price range.

AK? Yes, I want one more than I want a poodle shooter. In the running, too.

Shotgun? I have one. Do I need more than one? Not yet.

A .22 rifle? I don't shoot the ones I own enough to justify another one.

A Glock .22 conversion? Doesn't qualify for BAG day unless I get a receiver with it.

A J-frame or Ruger snubby? In the running.

I can feel it comin' on the air tonight

"I was there and I saw what you did. Saw it with my own two eyes. So you can wipe off that grin, I know where you've been. It's all been a pack of lies."

Aside from being one of the most quoted Genesis tunes that line perfectly characterizes Recreate 68.

Tonight is the meeting they are holding at the Gypsy House Cafe. I'm glad I'm in Texas.

Now that Clinton and Obama are both locked into wrestling with each other until the convention we are now forced to watch as the DNC tries to decide on pigment or lack of penis as a justification to run for President.

That's what it comes down to. The person with the most melanin or the person lacking a penis.

Recreate 68 is aimed at staging protests in Denver and again I am OVERJOYED at no longer living in the city of the Brown Cloud.

R-68 agrees with the proposition, POTESTAS IN POPULO, "all power comes from the people."
They forget Mao's one true maxim. Political Power grows from the barrel of a gun. No guns no political power.

Mayor John Hickenlooper may be a half-baked worthless and useless figurehead but the professional bureaucrats who really run Denver know this maxim by heart.

Their people will be the same ones who stomped up and down the streets of Denver on Jan 1, 2000. You WILL be beaten. You WILL be gassed. You WILL be charged with crimes you may not have committed. You WILL regret coming to Denver.

I'd ask you to check out real estate while you are there but none of the member of R-68 could afford to buy me lunch, let alone a house. They are all still living at home in their parent's basement.
